He Said I'm Ugly...

I was in the shower the other day when I heard a 'little person' knock on the door. Katie came into the bathroom and this is how the conversation went. Remember I was in the shower...I could not see her.

Mom: "Katie what are you doing?"

Katie, in a very sad voice: "Nothing."

Mom: "Why are you in here?"

Katie: "Evan said I'm ugly."

Mom: "Evan would never say that...he likes you. He is a nice boy."

Katie, still in her very sad voice: "He said my hair is ugly."

Mom: "Katie, you never mind what Evan said. You have beautiful hair. God gave you beautiful hair."

At this point in the conversation I opened the curtain to look at Katie. I felt she needed that look that only mothers can give. The one that says she's beautiful no matter what other people may say. This is what was on the other side of the curtain.

As I chuckled, I reassured her she was beautiful. God made her beautiful, inside and out. She ran out the door to go tell Evan her mom said she was beautiful. And she believes she truly is!!!
