I am a Greenhouse Pig

Scroll down and notice the time. This is what happens to me when Tim is away. I can't sleep. I can't sleep. I can't sleep. Wanna come over and share a midnight snack with me? We could hang out, be goofy and talk girl talk? Maybe even fit in a chick flick. Any takers? Need more time to plan? Okay, I'll give you 24 hours...meet me here tomorrow night. I'm sure I'll be up.
Larah fell out of bed tonight and in doing so woke me up. I got up and did my motherly duties of checking on her. By the time I sleepily stumbled to her room, she had climbed back in bed, covered herself up and was fast asleep. When I had concluded that all was well, I too climbed back in bed, covered myself up...and...and...and...I prayed, I did some thinking, I listened to a CD (all the way through), I prayed some more, I thought some more, I went outside and turned off the sprinkler that I forgot to turn off before bed, and now here I sit. Lonely, tired, sleepless.
But while sitting at my computer, I have learned something new: I should have died at 4.9 years of age. Yep, this life that I live should have ended over 30 some years ago. And that, my friends, is the "shocking truth." According to Professor Schpinkee's Greenhouse Calculator, I used up my share of the earth 32.1 years ago. Wow, pretty interesting, huh? You can read more about this at Chuck Colson's BreakPoint.
I am thankful I serve a big God. I am thankful He knew what He was doing when He created me 37 years ago. I am thankful that He holds the number of my days in His hands. He is a Great God worthy of our praise!!!

Wow, I managed a whopping 22.4 years.
I know what you mean about not sleeping, I never could either. ;)
I guess if I tried to call you now, you would be sleeping, no wait, isn't it garage sale day?
I'm the same way. When Calvin was gone all summer in 2006 I hardly slept at all. Then, when he started his EMT job, he would be gone nights on call. I didn't sleep then either.
I've been thinking of you and praying for you lots this week, since Tim's been gone. Yay, Mr. Haymaker for bringing you back to us! :)
Blessings,
Michele :)
I just did the Greenhouse Calculator. Mine was 77 years. :)
Rebecca,
Welcome back to blogger land. I am so excited you are back sharing your world with us. I really enjoy reading what’s up at the Walker house.
Wow, this ole chick used up her share of this earth 48.1 yrs ago. So if that be true who is sitting here typing this comment? Does that mean I am a shadow of my former self? Oh I forgot . . . according to the picture I ended up as a puddle of Yuk on the floor.
I realize that George and I could be better stewards of God's creation but gee whiz I didn't know that we were that explosive :(
Praise God He is long suffering in all His ways and like Rebecca wrote, He is a great God worthy of our praise :)
I will continue to pray extra for y'all while Tim is gone.
Love you,
Sharon
Hope the hubby is home now and that you're sleeping!
Not sleeping is no fun!
