Early Morning Ramblings

>> Friday, February 01, 2008

It is 5:58 AM as I sit here at my computer. I am not quite ready to motivate so I thought I would sit and blog. What am I going to blog about? I'm not sure. But at this moment it sounds better than doing laundry, making the bed or doing any other sort of housework that needs to be done. The Blueberry Bread is in the oven, my diet Pepsi has been poured, the dishwasher is going, iTunes are playing (Newsboys), my last creme brulee candle is burning (thanks to my most wonderful sister-in-law...CDJ, you are so cool), and all my children are still sleeping.

Tim, Matthew and Lucas have a day full of "man" things planned out. They are going to take off early this morning and head to the new Cabela's store in Lacey, where they will spend the majority of their day. Tim asked me to pack a lunch for them, but we have absolutely no lunch food. Sorry Dave, they are going to have to eat out. Then this evening they are heading to Toledo for the Southwest Washington Baptist Association Men's Annual Hunting Banquet. That's where the Blueberry Bread comes into play. Tim asked me at the beginning of the week to make something for the banquet. Guess what? I forgot. Until about 10:30 last night. He suggested I make Blueberry Bread. So I got up at 5 to make bread. Want the recipe? It is simple and quite delicious.
Blueberry Bread~~from my good friend, D.P.

2 eggs

1 1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup syrup (Karo or Rodger)

1 cup milk
2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups flour
5 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
fold in 2 cups blueberries
Fill 2 loaf pans. Mix will be heavy. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until done.
It is yum-yum good.

My house smells delightful....with Blueberry Bread baking and the creme brulee candle burning. Talk about aroma therapy. The kids will for sure wake up hungry.

I haven't decided what my day will hold. I am babysitting for a friend for a couple of hours this morning. After that I don't know what we home folk are going to do. Justin received his new curriculum yesterday. We might take some time and get that in order. He is due to start his new year on Monday. AJ is going to spend the day with us, starting around 11. That will be fun. Other than that I imagine I will do school with Cayla and Katie.

I suppose that is enough rambling for this morning. I should be a good mom and get something going for the kids for breakfast. Lucas and Katie are now up and have asked for something to eat 3 times already. Why they got up so early, I do not know. Maybe it was the aroma permeating our home. They are going to be extremely disappointed with oatmeal.

Where did you get the blueberries? Mine are all gone. I only bought twenty pounds this summer. You would think we would have some left, but nooooo. My children think food is to eat. What ever gave them that idea?

I am glad that you get to add our house to the list. So very fun. I am kind of dissappointed that Justin didn't want to come and have his nails painted. It would be hard to do something with his hair though:)

Yeah...I'm not thinking Justin was too disappointed he didn't make it to girls night. I'm sure he's just fine where he is. Thanks for a fun night.
